Lose Your Christmas Weight With Your Own Body Weight

image

Christmas is a time to celebrate and who doesn't like celebrating? The only problem is, the festive celebrating usually goes hand in hand with indulging - mince pies, Yule log, eggnog, we could go on! The average Christmas dinner alone is said to contain a massive 7,000 calories. It's no wonder the average weight gain at Christmas is 2.2 lbs (1 kg).

The good news though is that January is the perfect time to get your fitness back on track and we're here to help with a workout designed to help you shift any excess Christmas weight using nothing but your own body weight.

Warm-up

Before you start any workout, we always recommend you perform a gentle warm-up. Not only does this get your heart pumping and increase circulation, it helps loosen your joints, stretch your muscles and, most importantly, decrease the likelihood of injury. Don't push yourself too hard though - save your energy for the main workout!

The Body Weight Workout

  • 20 body weight squats
  • 10 push-ups
  • 20 walking lunges
  • 10 dumbbell rows
  • 15 second plank
  • 30 jumping jacks

Cool down

Remember all the benefits of a warm-up we listed earlier? They're all equally as important at the end of a workout too. So once you've performed your last jumping jack, be sure to stretch it out and shake it off for a few minutes afterwards.

Swap bad habits for healthy ones

The Body Weight Workout will work wonders but don't forget to make adjustments to your whole lifestyle to ensure you see the maximum results. You know that old saying, 'You are what you eat'. Well, when it comes to fitness it's true.

No amount of work in the gym can undo a bad diet so be sure to make the necessary changes to your diet - eat natural whole foods, leave out junk food, fizzy drinks, refined sugar, etc, - to ensure it fuels your fitness.

Good luck and here's to smashing your fitness goal in 2017!
